Organic search generated $514,360.24 in first-year revenue, delivering a 12.25X ROI while ranking keywords grew 45.1% and core commercial terms moved from outside the top 20 into top positions.
Order Crabs came to us with a product people were actively searching for, but almost none of that demand was reaching the site through non-branded organic search. Core commercial terms like “blue crabs,” “Maryland blue crab,” “crab delivery,” and “order crabs online” were sitting outside the positions that generate meaningful clicks, while organic traffic was limited to only a few hundred visits per month.
That was a major missed opportunity. These were not informational searches with vague intent. They were searches from people actively looking to buy crabs online and have them delivered. The site needed stronger technical foundations, better collection-page relevance, more authority, and a clear strategy for moving its most valuable keywords onto page one.
We rebuilt the organic strategy around the Blue Crab category and the commercial searches most likely to generate orders. The campaign combined technical SEO fixes with focused on-page optimization, structured data, stronger collection content, FAQ development, and a targeted backlink and PR program.
Instead of chasing broad traffic, we concentrated on the searches closest to a purchase. Pages were strengthened around terms like “blue crabs,” “crab delivery,” “Maryland blue crab,” and “order crabs online,” while authority-building work helped those pages compete against established sites already occupying page one.
As rankings improved, the site began capturing far more of the existing demand in the market. The campaign also expanded beyond traditional Google results, with Order Crabs earning citations across ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, AI Mode, and Gemini.

During the first 12 months of the campaign, Google Search generated $514,360.24 in revenue against $42,000 in SEO spend, delivering a 12.25X ROI. Search drove 376,553 sessions and 1,885 orders, with an average order value of $272.87. Google Search accounted for 32.55% of all marketing-attributed sales and 18.06% of the store’s total $2.85M in revenue during the period.
The momentum continued into 2026. From February through July, Shopify-attributed Google Search sales reached $258.3K compared with $114.1K during the same six months of 2025, a 126% increase. That represented $144.2K in incremental attributed revenue on $21,000 invested during the period, producing a 6.9X incremental ROI.
Organic visibility grew alongside revenue. Ranking keywords increased from 3,468 to 5,032, with 164 keywords reaching the top 3 and 280 reaching the top 10. Estimated monthly organic traffic climbed from roughly 280 visits in early 2025 to 10,600 by July 2026.
The biggest gains came from the terms that mattered most commercially. “Blue crabs” moved from position 62 to 2, “blue crab” went from outside the top 100 to 4, “Maryland blue crab” climbed from 20 to 2, “crab delivery” jumped from 56 to 2, and “order crabs online” moved from 13 to position 1. “MD blue crab,” “blue crab legs,” and “crabs online order” also reached or held the number one position.
Order Crabs also built a lead in AI search visibility, earning 12 citations across major AI search platforms compared with 7 for its closest competitor, while appearing across 310 keywords in Google AI Overviews.
